Physical Fitness

Our Physical Fitness service provides personalized, in-home training programs specifically designed for the unique needs of older adults and individuals with mobility challenges. At HealthSense, we focus on building strength, improving balance, and boosting confidence to enhance independence and reduce the risk of falls. Our certified fitness professionals create safe, effective, and enjoyable routines that meet clients wherever they are on their fitness journey, all within the comfort and convenience of their own home.

Assessment

Our process begins with a comprehensive Fitness & Mobility Evaluation, which is conducted in coordination with the client's medical team. This covers a client’s:

  • Review of medical history and physician clearance for exercise.

  • A thorough assessment of balance, gait, and overall fall risk using standardized tools.

  • Evaluation of current strength, flexibility, and endurance levels.

  • Discussion of personal goals (e.g., "I want to walk to the park," "I want to carry my own groceries") and activity preferences.

  • A safety review of the home environment to identify the best spaces for exercise.

Plan

Based on this evaluation, we design a Personalized Fitness Plan that is both safe and progressive. This is a dynamic roadmap to achieving the client's goals. The plan may include:

  • A structured exercise routine targeting the four key areas of fitness: strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.

  • Clear instruction on proper form and technique to ensure safety and maximize benefits.

  • Integration of exercises that mimic activities of daily living to improve functional fitness.

  • A consistent schedule of one-on-one training sessions.

  • Recommendations for simple home safety modifications that can further reduce fall risk.

Implementation & Monitoring

The heart of our program is the implementation of the plan through consistent, Guided In-Home Sessions. This ongoing support includes:

  • Conducting safe and effective one-on-one training sessions.

  • Providing all necessary light exercise equipment, such as resistance bands, small weights, and balance aids.

  • Offering compassionate support and motivation to build confidence and ensure a positive experience.

  • Continuously monitoring progress towards goals and adjusting the program as the client gets stronger and more confident.

  • Collaborating with the client's medical team, including physicians and physical therapists, to ensure our program is perfectly aligned with their overall plan of care.
